Apple is increasing the RAM for the iPhone 18
Apple, known for its conservative approach when it comes to hardware, appears to be preparing bigger changes in the next generation of iPhones.
According to information published by the South Korean portal The Bell, the standard iPhone 18 model could be equipped with a full 12 GB of RAM, which would be a big step forward compared to the 8 GB currently offered.
If this information proves to be accurate, this would be the first time Apple has equipped the standard iPhone model (which is not the Pro version) with such a large amount of memory.
This step wouldn't just be for looks - the additional RAM would enable better multitasking performance, faster app launches, and greater efficiency in using artificial intelligence features, which are expected to be a central part of the iOS 19 operating system.
The report also notes that Apple plans to use the new LPDDR5X RAM, which is faster and more power-efficient than the current version. This move would allow the company to compete with manufacturers like Samsung and Google, whose premium phones already offer similar or larger amounts of memory.
Although Apple has not officially commented on these rumors, it is known that the company has been increasingly reducing the gap between the standard and Pro models in recent years - which could mean that users will finally get more value for their money. The iPhone 18 series is expected to be introduced in September 2026, and in addition to the increase in RAM, there are also rumors of camera improvements, a new design and a greater focus on artificial intelligence functionalities.
