Gaming: Report: Amidst ongoing legal proceedings, Rockstar devs have publicly formed a union with the IWGB

"Together, we are organising around the things we want to change Last year, more than 30 Rockstar Games staff members were fired in an act of alleged union busting by the GTA 6 developer. Rockstar claimed that this firing was because said devs were leaking features from upcoming games. Following this, the UK's IWGB filed legal claims against the studio due to them supposedly refusing to negotiate over firings, a case which continues on to this day. Now, Rockstar devs have gone public with their union, calling themselves the Rockstar IWGB Game Workers Union. "We didn't think this is how we'd be launching the public face of the Rockstar Games Union, but then we never could have predicted what happened over the last six months," explains a video shared to the IWGB Union YouTube channel. It goes on to explain, "Rockstar's sudden firings didn't crush our union. Instead we are now bigger and stronger than ever, with more and more workers joining from across every one of Rockstar's sites, in Edinburgh, London, Leeds, Lincoln and Dundee. Together, we are organising around the things we want to change, starting with pay transparency, flexible working, and an end to crunch." What the union is currently preparing for is the final court hearing, the date of which has now apparently been set. "We are determined to win justice for the 31 fire workers, and to show studios like Rockstar that they cannot get away with this disgusting treatment of the people whose talent, skill, and creativity are what capture their audiences and generate their billions." To that end, the union has set up a support fund that anyone can donate to to help with the coming legal battle against Rockstar. These funds will go towards helping to mount a legal defence, as well as campaign costs "to ramp up the pressure on Rockstar."
